November Wrap-Up
- Finished: 5
- Started but not finished: 3
- Total pages read: 2,125
- Average rating: 3.75
I finished two novels in November, Leigh Bardugo’s young adult fantasy duology Six of Crows (4/5 stars) and Crooked Kingdom (also 4/5 stars). I had hoped that they’d both be instant five-star reads, but unfortunately, they didn’t quite live up to the hype. I did give both four stars, because I liked the worldbuilding and in the end, even came to care for a few of the characters. Nonfiction Books
In
November, I continued with my Old School Books Project I started in October,
but with a much slower pace. I only finished one book, which was my old high
school history book. I also read two nonfiction books about the ancient Greek
novels, Ebbe Vilborg’s commentary on Achilles Tatius’ Leucippe and Clitophon
and Greek Fiction: The Greek Novel in Context edited by J.R. Morgan and
Richard Stoneman.
December Hopefuls

I’m
currently reading Lauren Groff’s The Vaster Wilds, and I’m planning to read
two other novels before Christmas: Octavia E. Butler’s Parable of the Sower
and Jacqueline Harpman’s I Who Have Never Known Men. I also want to read
two nonfiction books about the ancient Greek novels: Ancient Fiction: The
Novel in the Graeco-Roman Antiquity by Graham Anderson and Vision and
Narrative in Achilles Tatius’ Leucippe and Clitophon by Helen Morales. And I
want to finish my old high school biology textbook. During the holidays, I would
love to read two or three novels, but I don’t know yet which books I’ll pick up.
